Tahārah and Salāh with impurities under a plaster

25 Feb 2018 Ref-No#: 225

Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu Mufti Sahab,

Yesterday I got medicated for a problem of bleeding from my navel, and I’ve been put medical gauze in it. With the hours passing, blood and other impurities may keep exiting (and do exit), but I’ve been told by the doctor not to remove the gauze for the next few days. The quantity of impurities under the plaster applied over the gauze may thus easily exceed the “justified” amount of najasah for Salah to be still valid, but in my situation am I justified since I’ve been told not to remove the gauze/plaster?

Please make du’a’ as this is giving me too many worries and taking off my peace of mind regarding my taharah and ‘ibadat..

Jazakallahu khayran,

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salām wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,

May Allāh Ta’ālā grant you complete Shifā and remove all your wasāwisĀmīn.

Since a qualified doctor warned you not to remove the gauze, it will be permissible for you to perform Salāh in spite of the impurity. Thus, there is no need to remove the gauze.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
Wassalaam,
