Iddah after divorce
Asalam-e- alikum, Sir i want to a ask a question about, is there any fine or penalty in Islam for a women who do not stay at home after her divorce ? please guide me
Answer
Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu,
It is a major sin for a woman to unnecessarily leave her house during her ‘Iddah. She will be disobeying a direct commandment of Allah Ta’ala.
If a woman did leave the house during her ‘Iddah, she should continuously make Tawba and implore Allah to forgive here. It is preferable for her to give Sadaqah. Insha Allah, Allah will forgive her. There is no further penalty.
If a lady in ‘Iddah has a strong reason to leave, she should discuss with a scholar. He will inform her if the reason is valid and advise her accordingly.

ولا ينبغي للمطلقة ثلاثاً أو واحدة بائنة أو واحدة يملك الزوج فيها الرجعة أن تخرج من منزلها ليلاً ولا نهاراً حتى تنقضي [عدتها لقوله تعالى: {لَا تُخْرِجُوهُنَّ مِنْ بُيُوتِهِنَّ وَلَا يَخْرُجْنَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَأْتِينَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُبَيِّنَةٍ}. وقال إبراهيم النخعي: الفاحشة خروجها من بيتها . وبلغنا عن ابن عباس – رضي الله عنه – أنه قال: الفاحشة أن تزني فتخرج إلى الحد.
والمتوفى عنها زوجها تخرج بالنهار لحاجتها، ولا تبيت بغير منزلها ما دامت فى عدتها. بلغنا ذلك عن عبد الله بن مسعود أن نسوة شكين إليه الوحشة من توفي أزواجهن، فأمرهن أن يتزاورن بالنهار، ولا يبتن بالليل دون بيوتهن. (الأصل للشيباني – ج 4 / ص 405)
