Difficulty in praying fajr on time.

04 Jun 2019 Ref-No#: 1866

Assalamalaykum. I know a person who misses his fajr regularly on time but always prays it qadha because he is suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder(OCD) so he feels very uneasy in his mind during prayer and in addition his medicines side effects made him physically slow as compared to the young guy of his age. So what type of wazifa can you suggest for him to pray fajr regularly and does praying qadha fulfill his
obligations?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Allah Ta’ala has prescribed each prayer in an allotted time. Allah Ta’ala says,

إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَابًا مَّوْقُوتًا (سورة النساء 103)

“Surely, Salah is an obligation on the believers that is tied up with time.” (4:103)

Missing the Fajr due to the OCD and side effects of the medication is not a valid excuse. The brother will still have to perform his Fajr on time. He will be sinful by delaying it and praying Qadha.

He should firstly make a firm intention to wake up for Fajr, sleep earlier, put an alarm clock, and implore Allah to assist him in waking up.

He should also read the Dua mentioned in the Quran:

“رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلاَةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاء”
