Saying “عليه سلام”
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Can we Say “عليه سلام” on other/all Prophets? In other words, other prophets than Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Lastly, say we say (سبحانه وتعالى) after hearing the name of “الله سبحانه وتعالى”? Is it Sunnah? جزاك الله خيرا
Answer
Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
It is great etiquette to use words of honour and prayer after the honourable names of the Prophets. If you are mentioning one Prophet, your say ‘Alayhi as-Salam’ (عليه السلام), and when mentioning many Prophets, use the plural: ‘Alayhim as-Salam’ (عليهم السلام)
