During menses, I naturally wouldn’t get up at Fajr time.

1. So can I just check my discharge for hayd before zuhr, asr, maghrib and isha?

2. And for istihadah, can I check my discharge before or after prayer sets in?

3. What if I’ve already checked my discharge, but then awhile after I need to relieve myself (and the next prayer time is a long time away) – during relieving myself, do I need to check my discharge again? I’m asking because I noticed sometimes when I relieve from my backside, the pressure from it can release discharge. I don’t necessarily always feel this releasing. I’m afraid I have to constantly check in fear that I might wash/wipe it away from cleaning myself. And also, I might end up seeing moisture which looks like water, but I wouldn’t be able to tell if its clear discharge or discoloured because its so thin and also it could even just be water from istinja. I just don’t want to be dealing with doubts and confusions and I don’t want to be thinking about things so much.

Can I strictly only check hayd before prayer time begins (excluding when I physically feel a strong release of discharge), and not any other time even during relieving myself?

And can I be as strict when checking istihadah?

JazakAllahu khairan

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

1) We would suggest checking your discharge when you wake up, around 30 minutes before Dhuhr ends, and half way in the Maghrib time. Otherwise, choose three suitable times over a 24  period which are convenient for you.

2) Check once the prayer time has set in.

3) After you’ve checked, do not worry or check again.
